Emiel Delameillieure (7 oktober 1887 \u2013 29 maart 1980) was reeds van in mijn kinderjaren een goede bekende. Elk jaar kwam hij ons varkentje slachten en plaagde dan moeder door te zeggen: \u201cHet is een binnenbeer\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hij had een kleine hoeve en een winkeltje in de Ketelbuiserstraat waar ik de zaligste momenten van mijn kinderjaren beleefd heb.\u00a0 Spelend op de hofplaats, in de schuur, op de dilte, met de ekster, met het hondje.\u00a0 Kijkend naar het vee en de duiven.\u00a0 Zoekend in Meseurens pitten naar kraaistekkertjes en roobaars; of naar vogelnesten en verloren gelegde henneneieren.\u00a0 Knabbelend aan een hondekop (appel) of een smouter (peer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Goeie milde Emiel, geboren stoefer, die altijd het leven zo optimistisch tegemoet zag. Wedder op de duiven\u2026 Altijd in tegenspraak met Marietje Vanwalleghem, zijn vrouwtje dat altijd kloeg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uw oude dag is niet zo vrolijk geweest bij uw schoonzoon, maar gij hebt nooit geklaagd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En toen ge weg waart was ik op uw hoeve een vreemde. Al de hartelijkheid was verdwenen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
