Leon Muys (19 januari 1886 \u2013 25 juni 1977) was een klein ventje, met snorretje, maar enorm werklustig, timmerman, die zonder vaar noch vrees de gevaarlijkste karweitjes opknapte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geboren in Temse ging hij werken in de suikerfabriek van Helkijn, en hielp ze later ook afbreken.\u00a0 Zijn vrouw Germaine Bouvrie hield caf\u00e9 en pension voor de arbeiders van de fabriek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zijn zoon Armand studeerde met mij voor onderwijzer in de Normaalschool van Torhout. Voor de oorlog ging ik er met broer en zus elk jaar op bezoek: als hij niet werkte lag hij te slapen. Hij hield wat kippen en duiven en leefde in zijn eigen wereld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Na de oorlog heb ik hem nog \u00e9\u00e9nmaal bezocht als ik soldaat was. Oud, eenvoudig gebleven, een totale tegenstelling tot Germaine, die een ontwikkelde Walin leek te zijn en uit betere kring stamde. Een toevallig huwelijk\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
